Clearing forty acres can be expensive. Cutting a good lane through forty acres is not, and it might get you most of what you actually wanted — the ability to reach the back of your place, get to the creek, or run a side-by-side out to a camp spot.

When someone calls about a big clearing job, this is often the first thing we suggest looking at.

Why a mulched trail holds up

A trail scraped down to dirt turns into a rut the first hard rain, then a ditch. A mulched trail leaves a layer of chip on top of undisturbed ground. It drains, it stays firm, and it does not wash.

Width and routing

We will walk the route with you before cutting. Going around a wet spot or a steep pitch costs nothing at the planning stage and saves a lot of trouble later. Typical widths run from a walking path up to something you can get a truck down.

Keeping it open

A trail through timber needs a pass every few years to stay open. That maintenance run is a fraction of the cost of the first cut.
