View work is precision work. The goal is to take out the understory and scrub blocking the sight line while leaving the canopy that frames it and holds the slope.

Stripping a slope bare is how you lose it. That is the strongest argument for mulching here — the chip layer stays put and holds the ground while roots take back over.
